The Will-Grundy Center for Independent living open house held last Thursday in Morris was a great success nearly 80 people attended from the surrounding area. The Will-Grundy Center for Independent Living provides 4 CORE services. They are Advocacy, Information and Referral, Independent Living Skills Training and Peer Support. Those attending were given the opportunity to learn of the many different programs available as well as to try out amplified phones for the hearing impaired. Thank you to Mayor Richard Kopczick, and State's Attorney Johnathan M. Bates who were among the dignitaries who attended.
“We’re here to applaud all of the great work all the staff does in leading the County – and down in Springfield -- to do what is necessary and what it right for its disabled residents. In stressing the importance of equality, you let us know if something is not being done, and working to promote what is being done right. In Pam Heavens, we have a wonderful, committed and compassionate leader that shares knowledge in a positive way…this organization would not be what it is today without she and her very diligent staff, so congratulations on this celebration."
