A wide range of programs at the Center for Independent Living have been developed with disabled seniors and veterans in mind. Whether through the free amplified telephones distributed by the Center through the Illinois Telecommunications Assistance Corporation (ITAC), financial education courses or the low vision loan closet of assistive technology, there are many tremendous resources for the growing population of seniors and veterans. As the Center's mission is to empower and educate persons with disabilities, and promote independent living for persons of all ages and disabilities, we welcome involvement by seniors and veterans in both counties, and encourage those interested in learning more to stay informed and involved. Information on the Illinois Accessibility Code was recently presented to a group of adults with disabilities by architect John Stanton. John is currently the President of the Center's Board of Directors, and offers strong experience in accessible design and building code compliance.
